About Us

The Lorraine Jones Quartet are a newly formed Jazz Band comprising ex pro’ and ex record label musicians.

Individually we have a wealth of experience playing in venues ranging from The Royal Albert Hall to tiny clubs on the continent.

Now we appear at private parties, weddings, functions, corporate events and Jazz Venues

Our individual biographies are below.

Jenny Kemble - Piano

Jenny started playing piano when she was 8 years old.

Coming from a musical family, her father a professional bass player, Jenny has been involved in the London & Cambridge jazz scene all her life; playing professionally and semi-professionally in a myriad of jazz venues, whilst also working for the U.K’s top Jazz Magazine ‘Crescendo’.

Jenny recently told us she once shook Oscar Peterson’s hand at Scott’s when she was a teenager and didn’t wash her hand for a week!

Jenny is an established talent in the world of jazz piano.

Noel Price - Bass

Noel’s been playing bass since he was 12.

His second ever gig, just after turning 16, was supporting Georgie Fame & The Blue Flames when he was playing on the circuit around Birmingham with the now legendary ‘Spellbound’.

After selling his Recruitment Consultancy in London when he was 30, Noel toured an album with Cajun band ‘The Lizards’ who signed to Festival Records soon after his joining.

Noel is now in his late 60s. Shortly after retiring 8 years ago from his post of Head of Faculty, Noel started playing Jazz seriously following an inspirational tutorial with Paul Young’s bass man.

Simon Bittleston - Drums

Simon started playing drums professionally at the age of 13 as a sight-reading musician, backing professional cabaret singers, in an extensive range of clubs and venues throughout London and the south.

As a PhD scientist, he built a career in a major multinational company at VP level, working in Norway, the USA, France and UK; but always maintaining his musical passion with various pickup bands.

He also plays clarinet and has appeared at The Royal Albert Hall.

Lorraine Jones - Vocal

Lorraine  has been singing in a wide variety of bands since she was 15.

She has  appeared in many well known venues over the decades including the Marquee in Soho, Rock Garden in Covent Garden and the Mean Fiddler in Harlesden.

In the 1990s, she was a session singer for bands who were showcasing their talents to prospective music promoters.

Lorraine has always had a deep love of jazz and put this quartet together in 2024 for the joy of singing some of the coolest hits ever recorded.
